Checking Status of a Passport Renewal

The HM Passport Office offers three methods of applying for a passport: online, with the Post Office Check and Send Service, and via postal forms. The standard service typically takes 6-8 weeks to process, but customers have the option to use the urgent fast-track service for quicker results. To check the progress of your application, there are several ways available. You can use the online tracking service, contact the HM Passport Office via phone or email, or use their social media accounts. It is important to have your passport application number when checking the status of your application.

Standard Postal Passport Renewals

If you have applied for a passport, there are three different ways you can track it. Keeping track of your application is important, as it will inform you of the progress of your application and any additional information that the Passport Office may need from you.

• Online Renewal Applications

If you applied online with a PEX reference, you can track your passport application on the passport office tracking website. The website will provide you with up to date information on the progress of your application and any information that the Passport Office needs from you. It is important to keep track of your application, as this will give you an idea of when you can expect to receive your passport.

• Post Office Renewal Applications

If you have used the Post Office Check & Send service, they will have sent your application to the Passport Office. You can track your application at any time on the Post Office website. They provide regular updates on the progress of your application, so that you can stay informed on the status of your passport application.

• Sent By Post Renewal Applications

Finally, if you have sent in a paper form yourself, you can track your application by phone. You will need to call the Passport Office Phone Number to provide them with your application details. They will then be able to tell you the status of your application, and provide you with any additional information that you may need. Keeping track of your passport application by phone is important, as this will allow you to stay updated on when you can expect to receive your passport.

It is not possible to trace the complete progress of the application, but there are a few stages that can be confirmed by HM Passport Office.

• Get progress update by phone

You can call HM Passport Office and ask if the passport has gone through the check procedure and has been "Sent to print"; if the adviser can confirm this, it suggests that the application is in its final stages and will be handed to the third-party courier service for delivery within 24-48 hours.

• Courier tracking service

The courier will text you the previous day of the delivery date to affirm delivery. This message will incorporate a tracking number which you can use to trace the progress of the application.

You can monitor the progress of the application by using the tracking number online. All you need to do is visit the website of the courier company and enter the number into the search box. You will then be given a list of updates about your application.

These updates will include when the application was collected, the status of delivery (e.g. in transit/delivered) and the expected delivery date. If there is a delay, you will be informed and provided with an estimated delivery time. You can contact the courier company directly if you have any questions about the status of your application or the delivery time. They will be able to provide you with more information and assistance.
