Why can't I use the Premium service for my child?

You can see from the table above that there are far more restrictions on child passports than adult passports. Awaiting longer for a child's passport may be an inconvenience for you or your travel plans this is put in place to ensure the safety of every single child that is given a passport. The main concerns of the authorities are human trafficking, terrorism, and parental kidnappings and everything in their power is done to ensure these things are prevented from happening.

We always recommend that you do not book any travel plans until you have ensured that either your current passport is valid and in date or you have received your new passport from The Passport Office. We advise this to ensure that customers do not miss out on travel plans due to their passport not arriving in time and also save you the extra expense of rebooking flights and hotels etc.

Will Brexit effect how quickly I can get a passport?

As we are all aware the Brexit situation, we are all facing right now hasn't been the most straight forward and I am sure that many people are still confused to what, when and how Brexit will affect us and what impact it will have on our ability to get a passport and how easily we are able to travel.

Before the current burgundy and gold EU passports Britain had a dark blue and gold cover that was introduced almost 100 years ago, and in October 2019 anyone renewing or applying for a UK passport will now receive the blue and gold non-EU passport.

Many decisions regarding visas and new EU entry requirements still have now been finalised but some of the most likely outcomes are that we will need to purchase a visa for EU countries and that EU members will have to purchase a visa to enter the UK.

HM Passport Office is already putting processes in place in order to make October's change over as smooth and as hassle free as possible but it is likely that we will see some slight delays to waiting times over this period. Current waiting times are 2-4 weeks, this may increase to 3-6 weeks meaning the demand for urgent services will also increase over this period.

If your passport is due to run out shortly before October it may be worth renewing early to avoid any extra delay, you can transfer up to 6 months of your old passport onto your new passport meaning you won't lose any unused months on your current passport.

Booking and attending an urgent passport appointment can be daunting especially with the uncertainty of Brexit but having all the relevant information can make your application easy and stress free.
