How do I apply for a passport in one week?

HM Passport Office offers a one week fast-track service for those who need to get a passport quickly. However, it is not possible to get a lost, stolen, damaged or child passport within exactly one week.

This is because you first have to book the appointment for a date in advance which could take 2,3,4 days prior to attending the appointment, so realistically you are looking at 9-10 days from the time you book your appointment to receive the new passport.

Once the appointment is booked, the applicant must attend the appointment in person and bring all the necessary documents, to ensure that the passport office can return the renewed passport within 7 days of the appointment.

How can I book an urgent one week passport service?

If you need to get a passport urgently, the HM Passport Office offers a one week fast-track service. This service is available by calling the passport booking line, and can be a great way to get your passport quickly. Here is a guide on how to book an urgent one week fast-track with HM Passport Office by phone.

Step 1: Call the Booking Line

The first step is to call the HM Passport Office, you will need to provide your personal details, such as your name, address, and date of birth.

To avoid long wait times, it is best to avoid calling the HM Passport Office during peak times, which are 8-10am and 5-7pm. If you can, try to call outside of these times for the quickest response.

Step 2: Explain Your Situation

Once you have provided your personal details, explain to the HM Passport Office that you need an urgent one week fast-track service. They will then be able to advise you on the best way to proceed.

Step 3: Make the Payment

Once you have explained your situation, the HM Passport Office will provide you with a quote for the cost of the service which is £122 for a child renewal or first time, and £144 for an adult renewal, lost, stolen or damaged passport. You will then need to make the payment. This can be done over the phone using a debit or credit card.

Step 4: Attend Your Appointment

Once your appointment is booking you will need to attend at the date and time agreed, please plan your travel carefully and allow for plenty of time (we advise leaving at least 1 hour prior to estimated travel time).

(!) If you are late or miss your appointment HM Passport Office will not be able to see you as they often have other customers booking in immediately prior and after your appointment slot, they will also not refund the fee paid.

What documents do I need to bring to the appointment?

Prior to attending you will need to obtain a passport form from your local Post Office branch, unfortunately you cannot print a passport form online, so you need to get one of these in person.

When filling the form it can be different for your circumstances, but the below can help you:
